Last Thursday the representatives of AVVAPro in Seville held a meeting with the municipal government of José Luis Sanz at the Town Hall, to bring together positions on the regulation of illegal accommodation and to highlight the benefits that legal housing provides in Seville.
The mayor of Seville was present at the meeting, Jose Luis Sanz; the tourism delegate, Angie Moreno; the Urban Planning delegate, Juan de la Rosa; the manager of Seville City Office, Antonio Castano; the urban planning manager, Fernando Vazquez; and three members of AVVAPro.
In it, the ten measures announced by the Mayor to fight against illegal tourist accommodation have been analyzed.. Also, The representatives of the association have submitted three proposals to the government team to highlight the benefits that legal tourist homes are providing.:
- The need to start a communication campaign to clearly differentiate between clandestine housing and those that are perfectly regulated, highlighting the benefits that legal homes provide in Seville, defending “the good name of the city as a destination, generating many jobs and wealth for the city”.
- The creation of a housing registry for tourist use that operate legally in Seville, so that it can be used by both clients to confirm that they are legal and the tourist police to maintain control, as well as so that the tourist office can promote them as it does with the rest of the city's tourist offers..
- The increase in legal guarantees, to give the opportunity to owners of tourist homes likely to operate illegally to allege or cease the activity, and that those who may have made a mistake can correct it.

The meeting also discussed the future regulation that José Luis Sanz must agree with the opposition in September. AVVAPro has conveyed the need to resolve “a political problem that is not good for the sector and that is causing a call effect”, requesting that it be resolved by consensus.
